GIVEAWAY! Dancing with My Father (review)

Growing up Baptist, dancing never entered my head, let alone dancing with my father, a minister! How the times have changed. Sally Clarkson uses the dancing metaphor to symbolize our relationship with our Heavenly Father. Dancing with My Father leads women in learning how to let our souls dance with delight in God and into a life of grace and joy. Clarkson uses real-life stories, biblical insights, and journaling exercises to invite Christian women to let God fulfill our deepest longings and become our dance partner, even if we can’t imagine dancing with our earthly fathers.

I appreciated the fact that Sally doesn’t ignore life’s issues. She struggled with joy and grace herself, and that makes the book more genuine. The section I most appreciated—and most need to apply—is “I’ll be happy when . . .” It can be “I’ll be happy now.” The journal questions encourage us to delve deep into our souls and confront those things that hold us back from dancing through life like an exuberant and unencumbered six-year-old ballerina twirling in her father’s arms. Pick up this book if you want dance, rather than skulk, through life.

Giveaway! I have a copy of Dancing with My Father to mail to one lucky reader! To enter, leave a comment in the comments section (not an email) and tell me what your favorite style of dancing is and who you like to dance with. Be sure to leave your contact information as well. I'll choose a winner Thursday after 9 p.m. EST.

Disclaimer: These books were provided for the review and giveaway by the WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group.

  1. I love to salsa dance. I was able to take a Latin dancing class in college and absolutely loved it!! If I could dance with anyone it would probably be someone off of dancing with the stars. They could teach me so much!!

  2. I love the ballroom dancing. Alas I am in a wheelchair most the time so no dancing for me. No worries! Nothing a good rapture can't cure ;)

    God bless
